The SDNNOA General Meeting was called to order at 17:35 p.m. (PST) by CDR Jerome White. The following members were in attendance:

OFFICER’S REPORT:

President: 

• Introduced new VP, ENS Johnson

Secretary:

• LT Johnson has nothing to report at this time. Mailbox was checked today, no scholarship applications were received as of yet.

Treasurer:

• Checking to-date $3,100.50 and Savings to-date $254.63. Verbal report submitted by LT Allen and accepted by the body.

Historian:                                                                     

• Nothing to report

PAO:

• Spring Newsletter will be published for a May 2013 edition. Still soliciting ideas/suggestions for the newsletter. Please contact LTJG Johnson if you would like contribute.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Membership:

• CDR White announced membership dues for national and local chapters are due in June.

Scholarship:

• 28 applicants for Dollar for Scholars Scholarship
• No STEM Scholarship application submitted at this time. Deadline is 01 May 2013.
• Please continue to advertise scholarship opportunities.

Fundraising:

• SDNNOA 5K Fun Run is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
• CDR White is open to suggestions for new fundraising events.

NEW BUSINESS:

• Booz-Allen Hamilton/Jackie Robinson YMCA Partnership Initiative is asking to partner with SDNNOA as a community service opportunity. Booz-Allen Hamilton has financed a new computer lab for the Jackie Robinson YMCA. They would like SNNOA members to volunteer our time to train. There are about 9 lessons total. More information to come.
• End of Year Awards must be submitted to National NLT June. CDR White hopes to also have EOY awards for our local chapter.
• EOY report for our chapter will be due in June

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

• Scholarship Banquet end of May/early June-more information to come
• Hails and Farewells
• Strategic Planning Session for next calendar year

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

• “Why Black Officer’s Fail” article discussion. Take Aways: 1) Education –understand and obtain the skills necessary to be successful; 2) Developmental assignments/billets-challenge yourself; 3) Mentor-network and focus on learning from others; 4) Clash of Cultures-understand the “rules of the game”.
